BIG 4 Filter Recycling
Save 50% or more by recycling and reusing your own used industrial air filters
Recycling and reusing your own filters will reduce filter maintenance costs without reducing filter performance or risking equipment protection. The cost to recycle is normally a fraction of the cost of a new filter.

Types of filters that can be recycled:
  • Sewn end blower elements
  • Molded end synthetic elements
  • Dust collector elements
  • Paper turbine air elements
  • Hydraulic strainer and screens
  • Compressor intake filters
  • Off-road air intake filters
  • Vacuum intake filters
  • And many, many more...

It is a little known secret that virtually all industrial air intake and dust collector filters can be recycled and reused as many as 8 times each. As it is pointed out in Technical Service Bulletin 89-4R2 published by the Filter Manufacturers Council "paper air elements can be cleaned successfully

BIG 4 has developed an exclusive process, following the Filter Manufactures Council own guidelines for filter recycling, that cleans the entire filter element inside and out, so throughly that it removes 98.99% of all dust and debris rendering a like new recycled filter ready for reuse. In fact, tests have proven that in many cases our recycled filter often provides better filtration then when the filter was new.

  1. FMC guidelines: "Use a commercial heavy duty air filter washing (recycling) service that warrants the elements they wash"
BIG 4 Process: Our recycled elements carry the same warranty as a new element
  2. FMC guidelines: “The most effective cleaning method is to soak in water and a mild detergent then backwash with controlled water pressure"
BIG4 Process: We do soak in mild detergent & back-wash as recommended, taking special care not to damage the media
  3. FMC guidelines: "Warm air must be circulated (to dry), maintaining a temperature less than 160 degrees F"
BIG4 Process: We use air circulating convection ovens with computer monitored temperature controls
  4. FMC guidelines: "Inspection of the cleaned element is critically important. Inspect for holes and tears in the pleats"
BIG4 Process: The lights in our visual inspection room will expose even the smallest of pin holes
  5. FMC guidelines:"Inspect for torn. loose. or partially-compressed gaskets. and dented metal parts"
BIG4 Process: We inspect & replace faulty gaskets taking care to inspect the total metal integrity of the element
  6. FMC guidelines: "Flow check element to insure restrictions do not exceed the specified tolerance level"
BIG4 Process: All recycled elements are checked on a Magnehelic gauge, insuring correct restriction
  7. FMC guidelines: "Filters that have passed final inspection should be placed in a sealed box and stored in a clean. dry place"
BIG4 Process:Our recycled elements are boxed for easy stacking and labeled with your internal part number then returned

In 2008 our customers recycled and reused over 13,000 elements saving in excess of 30,000 cubic feet of landfill space
